Zhengkun Qin received his B.S. degree in mathematics and his Ph.D. degree in meteorology from the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), Nanjing, China, in 2001 and 2007, respectively. From 2009 to 2014, he was a visiting scholar with the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science, at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL, USA. He is currently a full professor at the Joint Center of Data Assimilation for Research and Application, NUIST. Since 2016, he has been a visiting scholar with the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center, University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA. His research interests include satellite radiance data assimilation, surface data quality control and the study of nonlinear climate trend using satellite data.
