Junye Chen is an assistant research scientist of ESSIC. He is PI or Co-I of projects granted by NASA and NOAA. He is a member of the team that developing the MERRA reanalysis dataset at GMAO/NASA. The research work done by Chen has been published on the Journal of Science. He owns one GISS/NASA Best Publication Award and one First Award for excellence in Poser presentation in the 1st International CLIVAR Science Conference. His research interests include the global long-term climate trend and variabilities, the related global energy budget variation and circulation change, and the effect of inhomogeneity in reanalyses on climate study. He has a doctorate degree in atmospheric science from Columbia University. His current work with the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites (CICS) is on the Microwave Integrated Retrieval System (MiRS).
