Guojun Gu received a Ph.D. in meteorology and physical oceanography from University of Miami in 2001. After a short stay at Columbia University as a postdoctoral research scientist, he went to NASA/GSFC in March 2002 through the employment of UMBC/GEST. Since June 2009, Dr. Gu has been with UMD/ESSIC as an Associate Research Scientist. His research interests are generally in the fields of tropical meteorology and climate variability/change, covering tropical convection and waves, the ITCZ, monsoon processes, air-sea-land interactions, and global hydrological cycle. His CICS-MD project is on transferring the Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP) Data Products to Operations at NCEI.
