Christopher Grassotti

Christopher Grassottiis a Senior Faculty Specialist in the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center of the University of Maryland, College Park. He received a B.S. in Earth and Space Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a M.S. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He also received a European M.S. in Viticulture and Enology from the National Institute of Higher Education in Agricultural Sciences of Montpellier, France (Montpellier SupAgro). He is currently technical lead for the team responsible for the NOAA Microwave Integrated Retrieval System (MiRS), which is the official operational satellite microwave retrieval algorithm currently being run on data from more than 7 different polar and non-polar orbiting satellites. His interests include remote sensing, data assimilation, determination of atmospheric and surface properties from remote measurements, and precision viticulture, which includes the application of remote and proximate measurements to characterize vineyard, grapevine canopy, and wine grape characteristics.
